What is Joy to the D?

Joy to the D is our annual Christmas outreach. Each year, we work with families from around the community who, for whatever reason, may not be able to provide a Christmas for their family this year, and we come along-side of them.

This year, we are putting on a FREE TOY STORE. On Saturday, December 21, parents can come with their children to Courage Church, their kids can go downstairs to make Christmas cookies, play games and hear the Christmas story, while Mom and Dad shop for their children personally selecting a toy for each of them, wrapping them, and taking them home to put under the Christmas tree. The parents decide who the presents are “from”

We also hold an annual Christmas party on the Sunday morning before Christmas where we give out at least one toy to every single child who attends. This year this will take place on December 22rd at 11am.

What is the Tool kit?

The Joy to the D toolkit is a way for us to equip you to be able to spread the word to your friends and family about what we do, by sharing videos, graphics, pictures, and our giving page. We can not do what we do without the help of so many others who sacrifice to make sure that the families that are selected have a great Christmas. Sometimes, it is as simple as someone just finding out that this is going on, and they want to be a part of it. Sharing the content about it is the easiest way for you to spread the word.

Spreading the word gives others to opportunity to be involved!

This is a recap of the 2017 Joy to the D. Last year we did an extended focus on a few individual families that we helped give a very large Christmas to. This year our primary focus will be the Courage Church Toy Store where parents can choose for themselves the presents they will give to their kids on Christmas.

We have never done it this way before, so there is not an official video of what it will be like.

Joy to the D is such a special time where so many families in Detroit are blessed with a Christmas. Here is one of the stories that came out of last year's Joy to the D.

This is the story of a wonderful family that we were able to help bring a wonderful Christmas to last year. These stories are what Joy to the D is all about. There are many more stories just like this one, but we only document a very small number of them who are willing to share their story so that we can raise the support it takes to do this for other families.

Tips for sharing this video:
